The purpose of the Tourism Special Interest Group is to foster a dialogue and expand knowledge on tourism marketing issues among academics and business people and other groupings as appropriate. A particular emphasis of this SIG is to promote interaction between tourism marketing and the wider marketing academy to facilitate collaborations and to advance research on tourism marketing.
The group welcomes interest from researchers, teachers and others who would like to exchange ideas or would like share and access resources that could be used for research and/or classroom activities.
Objectives
The Tourism Special Interest Group has five objectives:
- facilitate interaction among academics, business people, policy makers and professional bodies (on the professional standards of tourism marketing)
- promote tourism marketing education and learning within Schools of Tourism and Hospitality and Marketing, both nationally and internationally
- build capacity and networking opportunities for early career researchers and promote career development pathways for tourism marketing academics
- foster research on tourism marketing related issues, and
- disseminate research findings, theoretical contributions, and successful business practices among members.

If you would like to join the Tourism Special Interest Group please contact Marion at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Surrey or Scott at Birmingham Business School. SIG membership is open to both members and non-members of the Academy of Marketing, although only members of the Academy of Marketing have voting rights.
